Beginners Waltz – Group Class

About American Style Waltz
American Style Waltz is part of the American Smooth ballroom dance syllabus and is known for its graceful, flowing movements and elegant rise and fall. Unlike International Standard Waltz, American Style Waltz allows partners to separate and dance apart during many figures, creating opportunities for expressive and visually appealing movements.
Waltz is a slow, turning dance performed in 3/4 time and progresses in a counterclockwise direction around the dance floor. Students will learn proper posture, frame, footwork, timing, and partnering skills while developing confidence and enjoyment on the dance floor.
What to Wear
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and flexibility.
- Choose shoes that you can comfortably walk and dance in.
- If you are not comfortable walking in heels, we recommend selecting a flat shoe or a lower, more stable heel.
- If you are looking for practice shoes, we recommend The Dancer In You.
Please Note: Proper ballroom dance shoes have suede soles and should not be worn outdoors, as this can damage the suede and affect performance on the dance floor.
